The Diary of an (Ex?) Anxious Woman… or How I Stopped Googling My Symptoms at 3 a.m.

This is The Diary of an (Ex?) Anxious Woman and it doesn’t start the way you’d expect.

Woman lying in her bed at night, staring at her phone, overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts and mental agitation, illustrating the journal of a (ex?) anxious woman and nights of anxiety.

You’d think this diary would start on a Tuesday. A rainy Tuesday, like the opening scene of a slightly depressing French film. But nope.

It begins on a perfectly ordinary morning, when I was already sprinting in my head while still lying under the covers.

Thought #1: “What if this headache isn’t just a headache?”
Thought #2: “I MUST think positive, otherwise the universe will punish me.”
Thought #3: “Damn, I forgot to answer that email. It’s official: I’m useless.”

Voilà. Welcome to the brain of an (Ex?) Anxious Woman in progress.

If you know what it feels like to never quite be in the moment, to have your heart racing for no reason at all, to want to understand, anticipate and control everything before it even starts… well, you’re going to feel right at home here.

Why this diary?

Because for a long time, I thought I was broken. Or too sensitive. Or not resilient enough. Or too much of everything, and not enough of everything else. And then one day, I realized something very simple: I’m not broken. I’m human.

And I’ve learned to dance with my anxiety rather than run from it or hide it behind fake smiles.

So I thought: why not write it all down?  No jargon. No lectures. Just… real life. The Diary of an (Ex?) Anxious Woman puts words on what so many of us silently carry.

What to expect here?

Each entry in this diary is a little piece of the road. Stories, screw-ups, insights, tools that helped me (and others I gleefully tossed in the trash).

You’ll find:

  • Olympic-level overthinking,
  • sleepless nights redoing the world (and the grocery list),
  • the occasional “I’m quitting everything and moving to raise goats” plan,
  • tiny victories that felt huge inside,
  • and above all: lots of compassion. For you. For me. For us.

We’ll talk about breathing, overthinking, mental load, hypersensitivity, letting go (or at least trying), impostor syndrome, and that magical moment when you realize… you’re not alone.

One last word

Woman sleeping peacefully in her bed, phone set aside, symbol of calm and regained freedom in the journal of a (ex?) anxious woman.

If you’re tired of telling yourself “I have to get it together” when all you want is a little peace…

If you’ve ever watched yoga reels thinking “but WHY does she breathe so perfectly??”

If you want to understand what’s happening to you and stop feeling like an alien in the wellness world…

Then The Diary of an (Ex?) Anxious Woman is for you.

And if you’re not anxious yourself but live with someone who is (hello to the patient partners out there—solidarity!), you’re welcome too.

We’ll laugh, think, breathe, sometimes cry a good cry. But most of all: we’ll move forward, together.

Magda, still a little freaked out, but mostly freer every day.
